Abstract of 3DPSOLV Project

The aim of the proposed project is to develop a 3D massively parallel Poisson solver for elongated rectangular parallelepiped geometry and its implementation into the 3D electrostatic PIC/MC code BIT3. The solver should be highly scalable for a uniform Cartesian grid with 108 and more cells. Part of the project will be devoted to implementation of the newly developed 2D Poisson solver with realistic SOL geometry into the BIT2 code and its optimization. The BIT2 and BIT3 codes will be used for realistic fully kinetic simulation of the tokamak SOL, divertor plasma and different linear plasma devices.
