Abstract of BIT2-3 Project

The project consists of two parts: i. development of a 3D massively parallel Poisson solver for rectangular geometry and its implementation into the 3D electrostatic PIC/MC code BIT3, and ii. implementation of the biased structures into the BIT2 code. The 3D solver should be highly scalable for a uniform Cartesian grid with 108 and more cells. The newly developed BIT3 code will be used for realistic kinetic modelling of divertor plasmas in tokamaks and stellarators, and plasma discharges in different divertor simulators. The implementation of biased structures will enable the BIT2 code to simulate biased PFC (Plasma Facing Components) and to perform highly accurate synthetic diagnostics of the Langmuir probes in different fusion devises.
