Abstract of CINCOMP2 Project

The project is explicitly aiming at providing support for the scientists of EUROfusion who will use the Marconi-Fusion supercomputer at CINECA. The main focus will be on the provision of advanced help on the use of the accelerator based system consisting of Intel Xeon Phi Knights Landing. In particular support for porting and tuning European codes is foreseen. In addition, the tests on the performance of the Intel Broadwell partition concerning the scalability of massively parallel algorithms, notably for MPI / OpenMP / mixed paradigms, should be continued. And finally, as Marconi-Fusion will be upgraded with an Intel Skylake partition in mid-2017, both the hardware and the software of the new system will have to be tested by a variety of benchmarks.
