Abstract of PARALLAX Project

The bounce-averaged, quasi-linear Fokker-Planck code RELAX used for the description of the nonlinear evolution of the electron distribution function during high power electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) and current drive (ECCD) is to be parallelized. At the moment the code is still fully serial, but very significant gains should be achievable with relatively small effort. Improving the turnaround time of the code will greatly improve the productivity of its application and enable new possibilities like performing calculations for entire discharges with high temporal resolution as oppose to the single time point analysis to which the code is currently restricted.
