Abstract of CINCOMP3 Project

The explicit aim of the project is to provide support to EUROfusion scientists using the Marconi-Fusion supercomputer at CINECA. The main focus is on the provision of advanced help on the use of the accelerator-based system consisting of Intel Xeon Phi Knights Landing (KNL). In particular, support for porting and tuning European codes is foreseen. In addition, the hardware and the software of the new Intel Skylake partition will be tested by a variety of benchmarks. Moreover, special attention will be put on the assessment of the performance, notably of intrinsic mathematical functions e.g. division, square root etc. both in sequential and vectorized mode. The comparison of the results obtained on the Intel Skylake and KNL partitions is also foreseen.
