Abstract of SPICE Project

The 3D3V particle-in-cell code SPICE3 can be used to predict escaping thermionic currents from hot tungsten PFCs, which is relevant to lamella melting experiments at JET and AUG and required for predictions of molten surfaces in ITER. In order to achieve realistic simulations of the emission from localised hotspots, an improvement in the scaling of the code is necessary – in particular the Poisson solver should be parallelized.
