Abstract of SPICE2 Project
The 3D3V particle-in-cell code SPICE3 can be used to predict escaping thermionic currents from hot tungsten PFCs, which is relevant to lamella melting experiments at JET and AUG and required for predictions of molten surfaces in ITER. In order to achieve realistic simulations of the emission from localised hotspots, an improvement in the scaling of the code is necessary. In 2018 the Poisson solver was parallelized with HLST support. The complete parallelization of the code should be finalized by implementing a parallelized force calculation algorithm.
